Fires of Discovery by Shelly Dorsey

A curse forged in fire, a hunter born of darkness, and a girl whose awakening will shake the realms that thought they understood her.

Raven Carrington never asked for power, prophecy, or the attention of something ancient that moves through the shadows. Yet the night her dormant abilities erupt, the veil between worlds tears open and drags her into a past soaked in fear, betrayal, and the smoke of a curse that has haunted her family for centuries. The Carrington sisters were condemned as witches, but the truth behind their deaths is far more twisted than the stories whispered through the generations.

Lost in a time that should not exist, Raven discovers that her bloodline is bound to a prophecy older than the curse itself. She meets Alsé, the girl whose desperate choice shattered the family, and young Tilday, whose gifts reveal truths Raven is not ready to face. Every step deeper into the past pulls her closer to the revelation that her own identity is the key to breaking the curse — or unleashing something far worse.

But Raven is not the only one drawn to the power awakening inside her. Barima, a relentless hunter born of shadow and fire, has waited centuries for the child who carries both divine grace and untamed magic. She will stop at nothing to claim Raven, for the girl’s existence threatens the balance between realms. As danger closes in from every direction, Raven must decide whether she will embrace the light that calls to her or the power that tempts her, knowing that either choice could save her family or doom them forever. When the veil finally shatters and the past collides with the present, Raven’s powers surge beyond her control. The ground trembles. The sky darkens. Barima reaches for her with a voice that coils like smoke, and Raven realizes that destiny has already found her.

The curse has awakened. The hunter has risen. And Raven Carrington has only begun to understand what she truly is.
