  1. Hey Pam, I found you on WLC #Sharing love for authors. I've liked your blog. I've read your review policy and I'm wondering if you can review IONSHAKER DESPERATE(mystery/ thriller - no profanity)

    Here's the synopsis

rey's wife, his wife's shrink and his attorney are shot dead as his ex-girlfriend Robin who narrowly escapes death and gets admitted in ICU in critical condition, soon disappears from the hospital. The four of them knew about Ionshaker - a cutting edge interstate Nuclear arming/disarming software.
Brett - the lead FBI detective pursuing Trey (the sole murder suspect) is soon framed for two new murders and becomes a fugitive just like Trey, when he learns about Al Fakir - a suspected Al Qaeda off shoot that has stolen Ionshaker.

No One knows what Al Fakir intends to use Ionshaker for, but every one knows, the country that possesses Ionshaker will control all nuclear warheads worldwide at the click of a button.
It is feared that Ionshaker has already reached Germany, with China, Russia and Pakistan already bidding for Ionshaker for trillions of dollars. Now, the president needs Trey (an ex CIA) and Brett (an ex FBI) to steal Ionshaker back from Al Fakir before its sold or duplicated.

  2. Hello, I was hoping you might review my book for me.
Brief synopsis - Ever notice that the world could be a nicer place to live in? If you didn't, then you’re not paying much attention! As you well know, we all grow-up facing life’s trials and tribulations. Some succeed and live happily, and unfortunately, some do not.
Lushland is a small island nation that is renowned the world over for its gorgeous greeness, but it has a big problem - people and nature don't quite get along, which has far reaching consequences for all creatures. Finn is aware of society's shortcomings from an early age and is absolutley baffled by the behaviour that his fellow man is forced to engage in, but then again, he isn't exactly like the rest of us.
Follow Finn on a philosophical journey of conscience and evolution that spans the history of life as we know it; seen through the minds of Earth’s earliest inhabitants, and believe you me, they're not impressed with what humanity has become.

    Kind regards,
    Pat

  3. Pam,
Hello. My name is David N. Alderman, and I am a self-published author inquiring to see if you'd be willing to read/review the first book in my Expired Reality series, Endangered Memories. The series falls into a genre I call edgy Christian speculative fiction. There are two Expired Reality novels in the series so far, with plans to write/publish at least twelve. Below is a synopsis of Endangered Memories so you can decide if this is the type of book you'd like to check out. If you are interested in reading/reviewing my book, I'd be happy to send you a Kindle copy of Endangered Memories.

Thank you for taking the time to check out my work!

Endangered Memories: an Expired Reality novel synopsis -
When ex-hero David Corbin receives an unexpected wedding invitation from the girl he once loved, he sets out on a journey to South Ryshard to crash the event and proclaim his true feelings to her. With help from his close friend, Veronica, and a girl named Kimberly, David battles his way through crooked agents, a crazed farmer and a demon hybrid to reach the wedding on time. Only when he runs into Turquoise, a mysterious woman on her own mission to stop the wedding and procure an enchanted timepiece, does he realize that the fate of humanity hangs in the balance.

Carrie Green is days away from marrying Jerad Montlier, one of the richest men in the world. Lacking memories of her past, and displaying a peculiar spiral birthmark on her shoulder blade, Carrie is spun into further confusion when a diary with her name on it falls into her possession. Reading the entries inside sparks a recollection of her past and reveals the horrifying trap that’s been set.

As heroes’ paths collide, the beginning of the end launches in this epic first volume of the Expired Reality series.

New Psychological Thriller Explores Relationships Between Main Characters

    Terror at Mirror Lake

If you think Hannibal Lecter was evil, wait until you meet Luke Downing, a killer so evil he makes Lecter look like an altar boy.

Terror lurks in the shadows of Mirror Lake, where secrets of sex, lies, and death are all patiently waiting to surface from its murky depths. The small town of Hamptonville seems the last place you would find sadistic sex, drugs, blackmail, and murder. But that’s exactly what Bruce Orum, his girlfriend Cindy Garvey, and two married couples encounter when they meet Luke Downing, a psychopath who takes pleasure by inflicting pain on his victims. At Mirror Lake Downing takes the two married couples prisoner and plans to torture and humiliate them before killing them. But he does not know that Sheriff Jeff Parker and his partner Molly Hutchison are on his trail and determined to stop him. From page one all the way to the breathtaking ending, you will find yourself on pins and needles waiting to see what happens next.

Terror at Mirror Lake is more than just another psychological thriller. In its pages the author describes the causes of Luke Downing’s evil nature, his relationships with others, and the relationships between the two married couples he plans to torment and kill. Synopsis

    Partially Broken Never Destroyed
Kayla feels that a man named, Jeremy is the man of her dreams. He winds and dines her as well as buys her anything she wants. Further into the relationship, Kayla discovers that Jeremy is not the enduring man she thought he was. Jeremy is very controlling and abusive. Kayla decides to try to get Jeremy back in line, but Jeremy ends up having a few tricks up his sleeve. Once Kayla realizes that Jeremy is a liar and deceiver, she confides in Jeremy’s roommate and things get out of control. Kayla then attempts to leave, but Jeremy doesn’t want Kayla out of his life.
Attempting to move on from the relationship with Jeremy, Kayla decides to discover the night life by going out with co-workers and her best friend Brandy, who is always there for Kayla. Kayla then meets someone who she finds intriguing name Richard at one of the parties they attend. Richard turns out to be a hassle more than a help. She cannot seem to get him to act right either, so Kayla rebels against him as well. After putting up with his faults, Kayla begins spinning out of control into deception of her own. Kayla eventually leaves him and decides to get out of town with skeletons still in her closet. Before leaving town, she gets involved with a street pharmacist that she falls in love with named Michael. Michael is a charmer who literally sweeps Kayla off of her feet.
Against her beliefs, Kayla attempts to work out a long distance relationship with Michael. She moves out of town with a co-worker while attending school at a University. Things were going okay until Kayla notices jealousy issues with the roommate. Kayla then discovers that her roommate only moved to be closer to a married man named George. Not only is George married, but he is married to her roommate’s cousin. Kayla’s roommate confides in her about the lies and deception that eventually gets Kayla involved in a dangerous situation. In the meantime, Kayla is dealing with her new man’s problems and the extra baggage he has that she did not expect. Meanwhile, her roommate gets too far in with the married man and things really go south. Kayla finds herself afraid and looking for a way to get away from the madness and ends up retreating with an ex-lover who is a compulsive liar. She begins to detest the ex-lover for his trifling ways, but feels she needs his protection from the situation with her roommate and George.
Kayla tries to move on in her life without drama, but trouble seems to follow her even at her successes. Kayla is carrying a huge secret that haunts her and she knows she will have to deal with it at some point. She also knows that things are unfinished with Michael because he had matters he left her behind without looking back. Kayla’s unresolved issues lead to part II “Partially Broken Never Destroyed 2”.

  8. Having read through your website, I can believe that you are a most creative person. Any author who can balance writing and promotional demands with the demands of a review bog is to be complimented. I've done it, and it's tough.

I would like you to consider reading and reviewing my new release, The Road to Armageddon.

The Road to Armageddon is Christian fiction recounting the struggle of one family, the Bishops, to survive through the great Tribulation. The story follows the Bishops as they are forced out of the life they know and into coping with adverse political conditions, disease, starvation, slavery and multiple natural disasters progressing gradually from victims to victors. It also traces the decline and fall of evil as events lead into the battle of Armageddon.

If you chose to read The Road to Armageddon, I hope you enjoy every word. If you chose not to read it, I will understand as I also review books for other authors and understand the pressures.

You may contact me for a free review copy at cpolk625@ix.netcom.com, or visit http://clabepolkmysteryadve.ipage.com/the-road-to-armageddon.html for additional information about the book.

Thanks for your time and consideration.

  9. Hi Pam,

I was searching for reviewers of Theodora’s Children when I came upon Pam Funke Book Reviews. Studied your blog in detail and hope there’s a fit here. It looks like Theodora’s Children falls into a genre you review. Though it’s written for younger readers (genre Children’s Literature), it's also a book that anyone at any age can read.

    Book Title: Theodora’s Children

Description: Gretchen is her name. She's the heroine of the story. Some people call her Gretch the Wretch. Not a very nice thing to say about someone, especially if they suffer from a loneliness so intense it could blow the roof off the sky. Certainly she's not the only person in the world who's felt this way. You might have felt this way yourself. Or you might feel this way at this very moment, just as Gretchen felt at the beginning of her story. This isn't to say she's not a wonderful person. If you get to know her, you'll find out how wonderful she is. If you don't, you'll never know.

    Genre: Children’s Literature, Christian

Thanks so much for taking the time to consider my request. It takes a lot of time and energy to review a book (I’ve written a few myself and find it to be very difficult) and I greatly appreciate your efforts.

  10. Hi Pam.

    This email is a review request. I know you are up to your eyes and the last thing you need right now is another review request. So, if you can’t get to mine, I fully understand. However, I am going to make my pitch anyway, and hope that you are in a sympathetic mood when you get to it. { I am very patient, and if you think you would like to read the book but just don't have the time right now, I'd be happy for you to put it on your list for reviewing at a time when you can get to it.}

I write in a number of different genres and, reading your interesting blog, I am wondering if I could interest you in reviewing my contemporary Irish novel Fallen Men. (The title comes from a line in a hymn ...'...and fallen men may rise again on wings of prayer.'
    Short blurb:
A young priest's life spirals out of control when long-submerged memories of childhood abuse begin to surface. He seeks solace in a friendship with a beautiful seventeen-year-old-choir girl but this leads to a frenzied love affair that ends in disaster. Fallen Men touches on some dark themes but it is ultimately a novel of redemption.

Fallen Men has been the recipient of two literary awards - Top Medallist Honours in the General Fiction category of the prestigious New Apple 2015 Awards for Excellence, and the IDB Amazon Award in 2013.

  11. Many people struggle with their identity in Christ, which leads them to become victims of eating disorders, sexual promiscuity, drugs, and more. For some this could lead to sex trafficking. It is my hope that children of God, especially women, understand who they are and whose they are. Thus, I've recently released a Christian devotional, and would like to send you a PDF copy for your review. Would you accept?
